ARCHIVE
Why does the data ark provide video files of several GB per file for its own productions on odysee.com?
We archive our media in a specific resolution (usually 2560x1440) and data rate (6-12MBit depending on requirements) for future restorations or improvements. Odysee is a central archive for the data ark. Downscaled mini-videos make no sense here, nor do highly optimized video files. This can lead to errors.
The Odysee network automatically provides smaller versions. We will not change this doctrine, but may increase it in the future if requirements become even higher. Odysee is not YouTube, as it can also be used as a data archive. We do that. Most of our media is under Creative Commons License 4.0 INTL and can be used freely by anyone. So everyone is free to make smaller versions themselves.
